Danuta Metz, Financial Accountant

What projects are you currently working on within the organization?
I am responsible for the finances of the Civil Solidarity Platform project. My role involves managing expenditure, proper accounting and controlling for the seven working groups that are active in several countries in Europe and Central Asia for the extensive project.
What motivates you to work in the social/public sector and in Austausch? Why is this work important to you personally?
The organization’s activities and projects are primarily concerned with key social issues and problematic challenges such as education, equal opportunities, political security and stability. The work in the exchange is characterized by a friendly atmosphere and extremely collegial working relationships.
What has been your most rewarding experience working with the Austausch so far?
The best moments are above all the personal encounters with the people who take part in our projects and – just like us – are committed to civil society.
What are the most significant projects you have been involved in throughout your career?
It is difficult to say, as all the projects we apply for address important social problems.
What is your favorite book and why?
I don’t have a favorite book, but I enjoy reading historical literature.
What’s your favorite place in Berlin|Germany? Is there a spot in the city/country that inspires or relaxes you?
Berlin is big and rich in history, which is why many places and squares are very inspiring. I like to relax in the green forests around the city.
What type of music or song is your go-to when you need motivation or to relax?
For motivation I like to listen to nature sounds – recordings of rain, waves or forest sounds.
