Strengthening the Role of Civil Society in the Implementation of Climate Initiatives: Cooperation with the OSCE

Against the backdrop of this fundamental question Austausch and its partners from the Civic Solidarity Platform launched a seminar dedicated to the topic “The role of civil society in the implementation of the Helsinki principles”. The event has been organized within the framework of the Helsinki+50 process at OSCE that is supposed to be culminating at the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act of 1975 next year.
Public Debate “Green Transformation in Germany, Poland, and Ukraine Amid the War and Prospects for Post-War Reconstruction”

As Ukraine endures its third year of Russian aggression, post-war recovery plans have been in motion since the 2022 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano. There’s consensus on using recovery to modernize and tackle chronic issues like low energy efficiency, crucial for European integration and security. A decentralized energy system based on renewables is seen as more resilient against Russian attacks. Germany and Poland, with their experience in green transformation and renewable energy expansion, are expected to play key roles in Ukraine’s recovery.

UN Climate Meetings in Bonn

Austausch e. V and Crude Accountability brought three climate journalists and experts from the Central Asian countries to the UN Climate Meetings in Bonn from June 11-15. The group participated in a media training organized by the UNFCCC and had the opportunity to observe the actual climate negotiations. With COP29 (UN climate conference) scheduled to take place in Baku in November this year, a lot of interest was paid to what was happening with climate action in the countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia. Austausch e. V and its partners continued to follow recent developments in these regions, focusing on climate policies and actions, civil society developments and media coverage.
