Austausch e.V. co-hosted the sixth German-Polish Round Table on Eastern Europe
Austausch e.V. was honored to once again co-organize this vital series of German-Polish roundtable discussions, tackling social and political challenges within the EU and neighboring regions, especially in light of Russia’s continued aggression against Ukraine.
On October 24-25, experts, analysts, diplomats, and policymakers gathered for the final event of this year’s series at the stunning Wojnowice Castle near Wrocław, Poland. The event delved into the urgent question of Europe’s support for Ukraine, now and in the future, under the theme: “Poland, Germany, and Ukraine at a Turning Point: Making or Breaking the Western Alliance.”
This series of events was realized with our dedicated partners, Kolegium Europy Wschodniej, the Heinrich Böll Foundation Warsaw, Wrocław Miasto Spotkań, and the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation.
Panelists and participants discussed the importance of solidarity with Ukraine and the evolving political landscape in Europe and the U.S., recognizing the challenges posed by the rise of nationalist movements and the upcoming U.S. elections. Though historical issues remain, Poland and Germany are unwavering allies in the EU and NATO on political, economic, and security fronts. The discussions underscored the urgency of rethinking alliances to counter Russia’s ongoing imperial ambitions and safeguard Europe’s security.
