She Can – Women’s Empowerment in Ukrainian Communities

On International Women’s Day, we want to honor the strength, courage, and collaboration of women worldwide. An example of such collaboration is the recently concluded project ‘She Can – Empowering Women in Ukrainian Communities’ by Dialogue for Understanding e.V., in which we participated as a partner.

This project has established sister-city relationships between five cities in Germany and Ukraine led by women. It brought twenty dedicated women from Ukraine to Berlin to further their education in politics and civil society. In intensive sessions, participants acquired knowledge to help them bring about positive changes in their communities.

Additionally, as part of the project, Girls’ Days were organized at five schools in Ukraine. Over 250 participants engaged in discussions and activities aimed at nurturing potentials and encouraging young girls to get involved. Topics such as leadership qualities, political education, women’s rights, and personal goal-setting were central. A highlight was the meeting with the mayors, where girls and young women had the opportunity to learn from successful women in leadership positions.

‘She Can’ is an example of how partnerships and education can contribute to empowering women and inspiring future generations of women. Further information is available on the website of Dialogue for Understanding.
