We discussed the difference between the definitions of internally displaced persons, refugees, and migrants, as well as relocation, evacuation, forcible resettlement, etc.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the discussion, we explored the global causes of displacement and examined the level of protection that people receive or do not receive after moving, depending on how accurately the language and law define their situation.<\/p>\n\n<p>We addressed the challenges faced by such people, taking into account gender-specific issues, such as the particular risks of trafficking and violence, including domestic and gender-based violence.<\/p>\n\n<p>Furthermore, we discussed possible proposals to the UN Refugee Agency within the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNCHR) regarding new migration-related definitions that align with the relevant social situation.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Panelists:<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gulnara Shahinyan <\/strong>\u2013 a consultant to various bodies of UN, EU, Council of Europe, and OSCE on gender, migration, trafficking, and children&#8217;s rights (Armenia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Elena Aharelysheva <\/strong>\u2013 a gender researcher (Belarus)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maria Grits<\/strong> \u2013 a journalist and activist who has personally experienced forced migration twice (Belarus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moderation:<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Natallya Vasilevich <\/strong>\u2013 a theologian and human rights defender (Belarus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The discussion focused on the problematic nature of definitions related to the issue, both in international law and at the mundane level.
